Hack Wars Site Gets a Makeover!

I hope everyone likes the minimalistic and sharp new theme! It is still kind of a work in progress with a few details and I hope to get a couple more themes available for players to have a choice in their color schemes and possibly layout.

Be sure to rummage through the site and keep an eye out for both broken links and/or 'invisible' text, bad layout (i.e. blank off color boxes and overlapping) etc. Just let me know if you find these bugs and report with your browser, browser version, O.S. and O.S. version.

Since the original post I have changed a couple things:

  • Recent comments are now on the left.
  • New Forum posts are on the left.
  • Donation and Twitter blocks separated.
  • Less dead space at the bottom.

Just a little feedback...

The new site looks great. You did a nice job with the update. I just had a few suggestions that I think might make things a little easier to read on the forums.

On the forums, when someone posts a reply you get a line with the message "topic" and then you get a line like: "Submitted by aoi222 on Tue, 01/19/2010 - 011:00." I think it would be a little easier to read if the font for this second line was changed to accentuate the players name and show the date/time a little smaller. That way you can tell who sent the message at a quick glance.

My other suggestion would be to somehow separate the player's signature from their actual message. Maybe something as simple as a horizontal line to separate them. I guess the player could add in a line on their own, so maybe that's a bad suggestion.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the forum is not as easy to read as the old format, though it could be that it will just take some getting use to. That's just my opinion, for what it's worth.

I also just noticed that the players profile avatar no longer appears with their post. In would be nice to get that back too.
